RunDisney: Is it worth the cost?

RunDisney: Is it worth the cost?

Well the simple answer is…YES. But really, it’s maybe. It depends. It might not be. But for now, for me? It’s YES. Then again I don’t have an income right now and am embarking on a career change that will require 2+ more years of schooling so…maybe I’m a maybe. At the 5 year anniversary of the marathon in 1998, the cost for the marathon was $50 and the half marathon was $25. 1998. That’s a long time ago. But not like, A LONG time ago. The marathon in 2016 cost $205 without any early registration discounts. Oh and if you want to do a challenge? Try $550 for the early registration discount for the Dopey Challenge (which includes all four races offered that weekend). RunDisney just announced the prices for the Disneyland...

“Somebody’s Meatloaf” – A recipe!!

“Somebody’s Meatloaf” – A recipe!!

Who doesn’t like meatloaf? Well, alot of people, actually. Myself included, for the most part. I mean, did somebody say onion soup mix? Blech. I find people either love or hate meatloaf. But this recipe? LOVE IT SO MUCH. I enjoy cooking. I’m pretty good at it if I have a very good recipe to follow. I also (obvi) love Disney food so I’m all about trying to recreate some of those recipes at home! My husband and I went to the 50’s Prime Time Cafe on one of our first trips together after we were married. I remember getting the fried chicken because I had read a bunch of reviews about how awesome it was. Meh. I’d take KFC any day over that. The husband got Mom’s Meatloaf. Delish. It’s not exactly the most aesthetically...

BoardWalk Joe’s Marvelous Margaritas

BoardWalk Joe’s Marvelous Margaritas

And how! Being a Disney Vacation Club member, my family and I have the ability to stay at the deluxe resorts without paying deluxe prices. We’ve stayed in just about all of the DVC resorts at Walt Disney World and, although we pretty much love them all, I’d say a family favorite has to be either the Beach Club or the Boardwalk. And that’s mostly because of their close proximity to BoardWalk Joe’s Marvelous Margaritas. I’m kidding. But not really. Last August when my family and I did a split stay at the Boardwalk and Beach Club, I ran past this lovely stand in the mornings while Cast Members were painting a new sign and cleaning up the look of the kiosk. I’d say they did a great job. The menu is simple: Alcohol. And a Mickey...

Cheers! Breakfast Drinks!

Cheers! Breakfast Drinks!

You know what’s so great about vacationing at Disney? Besides the magic and Mickey and all that? Day drinking. No, I’m not talking about the day drinking of our college days. I’m talking about how at Disney it’s totally socially acceptable to have a cocktail pretty much first thing in the morning. Nowhere makes that more clear than at the Dawa Bar at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Located in Harambe Village right next to Tusker House, this full-liquor bar is not to be missed. My husband and I joke that it’s located perfected outside the doors of Tusker House so that stressed out parents can get a cocktail after having a “super fun” time at Tusker House’s character meals (Note: I love Tusker House. Love it. But...

My Favorite Running Routes at Disney

My Favorite Running Routes at Disney

Sometimes my family visits Walt Disney World when there isn’t a race to run. I know. Crazy. But that doesn’t mean we don’t (try too) get some exercise in in between rounds of gorging ourselves. My piggy brain feels much better about slamming down a couple extra drinks around the World Showcase when I’ve already got a few miles under my belt for the day. So this begs the question of WHERE to run while you’re on a Disney vacation. And, obviously, it all depends where you’re staying! Sort of. I mean, you can certainly use Disney transportation or even take a cab to a certain resort if you’d like but by the time I went through all that effort, I’d just bag the run and check out the food court. Here are my favorite...

First Drink of the Day – Coffee!

First Drink of the Day – Coffee!

For the love of all things that are holy, whyyyyyy is Disney coffee SO bad? Seriously, it’s not good. Yeah, yeah, Starbucks is there now. But if you’re anything like me, there’s no WAY you can make it to a park without first having had a cup (or 3) of coffee. I just can’t function without caffeine. But man did Disney drop the ball on this one. Coffee! How hard could it be? Ok, yes, fine, there are Starbucks locations being put in every park. 1) I can’t wait that long to have a cup of coffee 2) Starbucks regular joe is not good. It’s burnt. Don’t pretend it’s not and 3) I’m not paying a ridiculous amount of money for caffeine. So that leaves us with Joffrey’s coffee. Come on, you just have to laugh when...
